A robotic surface skimmer solves a different pool problem from a floor-cleaning robot. It patrols the waterline, collecting leaves, insects, pollen and other floating material before that debris becomes waterlogged, sinks, or reaches the pool’s fixed skimmer basket. In a…
Robotic pool cleaners can be worth it when they replace a meaningful amount of manual cleaning and suit the pool they are expected to clean. They are self-contained machines with their own drive system, scrubbing brushes, suction, and filter, so…
For most residential swimming pools, vacuuming about once a week is a sensible baseline. Vacuum sooner whenever dirt, leaves, sand, pollen, dead algae, or other debris is visibly collecting on the floor. A lightly used covered pool may sometimes need…
Yes, robotic pool cleaners can pick up algae, but the result depends on the type of algae, how firmly it is attached to the pool surface, and how fine the robot’s filter is. A robot is most useful for scrubbing…
Yes, some pool vacuums and automatic pool cleaners can stay in the pool overnight, but it should not be the default for every type. A suction-side cleaner that is designed to remain connected may be fine overnight, while many robotic…
To vacuum an above-ground swimming pool manually, connect a pool vacuum head to a telescopic pole, attach the vacuum hose, completely fill the hose with water so it contains as little air as possible, connect the hose to the pool’s…
To open a swimming pool for the summer, remove the winter cover without dumping debris into the water, restore every part that was winterized, refill the pool to its normal operating level, restart the circulation system, inspect for leaks, clean…
To hook up a standard manual pool vacuum, attach the vacuum head to a telescopic pole, connect the vacuum hose to the head, submerge the assembly, fill the entire hose with pool water to remove trapped air, turn the circulation…
The best way to clean pool filter cartridges is to remove them safely, rinse each pleat thoroughly with a garden hose, inspect the media, and use a manufacturer-approved cartridge cleaner only when plain water does not remove oily or mineral…
For ordinary pool vacuuming, set a multiport valve to FILTER. In this position, the pump pulls water and debris through the vacuum line, sends the water through the pool filter, and returns the filtered water to the pool. Use WASTE…
